Last weekend I took a much needed break and headed to a cabin near Lake Michigan with pals from Chicago. I’ve gone camping before, but turns out a tent in your parent’s backyard is not exactly roughing it. Though I suppose a cabin in the Michigan woods might not be considered roughing it either. Say it rough or paradise, I was a little out of my element and not exactly sure what to pack. I crossed my fingers and threw in way more than I needed and not the most important item: bug bite reliever/Bactine.
I wore pretty much the same outfit the whole time (yes ma’am: smells, sand, and all). What I would have done without my Kain classic pocket tee and LA Made bandeau, we will never know. Here I am picking blueberries:
Within an hour of getting to the campsite, I had several bites on my legs, toes, hands, and wrists. Two spider bites on my thigh later became infected after swimming in the lake. Sorry Aunt Diane, rubbing banana peels on my bites did NOT work for this lady.
Even with a swollen thigh, I had an absolutely wonderful time. I enjoyed chilling out by the campfire, antiquing, exploring the woods, picking blueberries, swimming/playing in the lake, and “entertaining” talks under the night summer sky.
Reflecting on it, I wish I woulda snatched these goodies from Ladybird as well. If any of ya’lls are camping soon, I highly recommend these camping buddies:
